A Study On The Influence Of Trait Anxiety On Conformity

Trait anxiety as a stable personality traits,has been widely concerned by the researchers,especially the decision-making behavior of high trait anxiety individual in the social is research hot spots,and achieved fruitful research results.However,Through these studies we can find that the impact of trait anxiety on social decision-making is focused on social and economic decision-making and risk decision-making?Lack of research in the study of social behavior that excludes economic factors.In addition,the situation of the study focuses on the interpersonal situation,that is,the individual is considered to be divorced from the social impact.Conformity as a typical behavior in the social situation,but rarely included in the study of the behavioral characteristics of trait anxiety individual.Based on the current research on the cognitive,emotional and behavioral patterns of trait anxiety individuals,we have reason to assume that different individuals with different trait anxiety levels will show different behavior patterns in conformity behavior.The study of different types of trait anxiety in different types of conformity behavior helps us to understand more deeply the trait anxiety of individual social behavior patterns,and better help individuals with high trait anxiety to understand and solve problems in daily life.In this study,we study the conformity behavior of trait anxiety individuals from the perspective of decision deflection,and regards conformity behavior as dynamic process.We use JAS(judge-advice-judge)paradigm adding confidence assessment process and emotion evaluation process to study the cognitive and emotional characteristics as well as the role of different levels of trait anxiety in conformity process.In experiment 1,the JAS paradigm adding confidence assessment process is used to examine the effect of trait anxiety on the informational conformity and the change of decision confidence in the process.Experiment 2 uses the JAS paradigm adding anxiety to evaluate the effect of trait anxiety on the normative conformity,and the role of anxiety in this process.The results show:(1)In the experiment one,there are significant differences in the decision-making rate of the high,medium and low trait anxiety groups.The general linear regression analysis shows that the trait anxiety can predict Individual decision-making rate of change;at the same time ? confidence can predict the decision change rate of individual decision-making.Using Bootstrap method for mediating effect test,found that ?confidence in the trait anxiety individual informational conformity process is not acting as an intermediary role.(2)In experiment 2,there are significant differences in the decision change rate of the high,medium and low trait anxiety groups.Using the decision change rate as the dependent variable and the trait anxiety as the independent variable,Perform general linear regression analysis.The results show that the trait anxiety can predict individual decision change rate.Using the Bootstrap method to test the mediation effect,we find that the anxiety acting as an intermediary role in the normative conformity.Normative conformity was significantly more than the informational conformity.The above results show that:(1)When the group reference information is inconsistent with the individual,the individual with high trait anxiety level is more likely to give up their judgment,change the decision,showing the informational conformity.At the same time,the more amount of confidence have fallen,the easier to change the decision.Personality factor that trait anxiety does not affect the amount of change in confidence.Trait anxiety and decision-making confidence changes both affect the informational conformity.(2)When the group information is inconsistent with the individual,the individual with high trait anxiety level is more likely to give up their judgment,change the decision to make their own decision and group consistent,to show the normative conformity behavior.In this process the individual anxiety is more obvious,the easier it is to change their own decisions,to show the normative conformity behavior.Anxious mood in the normative conformity behavior has a mediating role,that is,the group of the higher the level of trait anxiety and their own judgments are inconsistent with reference information,more likely to lead to higher anxiety emotion,anxiety emotion prompted to change their decision to show normative conformity behavior.The impact of standardized social impact on individuals with low trait anxiety levels is more pronounced.
