The question of being, namely the question of the authentic meaning of being, isthe foundation of Heidegger’s early thoughts. Being and Time is about that issue.Therefore, Heidegger pointed out in the introduction that we have neglect andmisunderstood “the question of being” for a long time. To understand “being”, wemust be explicit to ask the question of “being”, rather than “beings”.“Time” will bethe horizon for understanding “being”.Heidegger claims that as a universal, indefinable, self-evident concept, it does notmean that the meaning of “being” was clear. But because that we thought it’s obviousclear, and use the method solving the question of beings to solve the question of being,it’s authentic meaning covered. So, it’s necessary to retrieve of the question of being.After the formal structure of the question of being has a suitable transparency, wecan know that: in order to clarify the meaning of being, we should find a way to reach“being”. Such a questioner is a human being, namely Dasein. However, We shouldclarify “being” before clarify “Dasein”. That seems to fall into the “circularreasoning”. But Heidegger also indicated that, it’s not traditional inference. Butaccording to the “average and vague understanding”, and the connection of “being”and “Dasein”, the meaning of being will be revealed.Figuring out the formal of the question, Heidegger pointed out that, the basicconcepts of each specific discipline based on the understanding of “being”. Theintrinsic reason of the overall crisis of culture and science today is that the meaning ofbeing has not been revealed. So, to know the authentic meaning of being is importantfor the possibility of culture and science.Dasein is prior to solve the question of “being”. Not only as a questioner, but also ahuman lives in a actual daily life, Dasein creates it’s nature and comprehends theexistence of itself and the others. When we set out to understand “being” from“Dasein”, we will understand both the whole world and the various specific thingsinevitably. Therefore, if you want to grasp the philosophy foundation of “being”, youshould make a “existential analytic of Dasein”.At the same time, in Heidegger’s view, Dasein means “temporality”. To answer thequestion of “being”. we need to grasp the authentic meaning of time.“Temporality” is the foundation of the occurrence about “unconscious understanding”. However,“temporality” first occours as “historicity”. To look into the understanding of Dasein,we must deep into the “historicity”, finally into the “temporality”.Finally, Heidegger claimed that he still use the methods of phenomenology, but notfollowing Husserl’s theory, just focusing on his methods. At the same time, he deems“phenomenon” as “truth”,“logic” as “speeches” to display “truth”.
