Potentiality refers to humans’potential ability or capacity, which will turn to be explicit ability while gets externalized and connected with practical activity and becomes effective afterwards.Ability is merely externalized potentiality that only takes a very small proportion of the latter. Writing potentiality of writer refers to the unmanifested writing ability. And writing potentiality stimulation ought to be the basic approach of writer-cultivation.The proposal of the subject of writing potentiality stimulation primarily distinguished from conventional writer-cultivating mode that passing on experience and technique. This thesis separates writing potentiality into three relatively significant aspects:writing motivation, writing spirituality and state of mind in writing. A writer is driven to create by motivation; the whole creating process is supported by the writer’s spirituality and is protected by his state of mind.Chapter One:Psychoanalysis and the Summoning of Writing Motivation. In this chapter, author takes Freud’s theory as lessens, organizes theory resources, such as the schema of mental structure, consciousness and subconsciousness, dream intention, dream-work, depression and desire, systematically restores the whole mental mechanism, to explore the application of this mental mechanism in writing and the transformation from core contradiction in writer’s subconsciousness to writing motivation.Chapter Two:Metapsychology and the Development of Writing Spirituality. In this chapter, author expounds the rationality of spirituality discipline, such as "A Course in Miracles",by analyzing metapsychology theories, especially theories of "holons","the spectrum of consciousness" and "four-quadrant" from Ken Wilber’s "transpersonal psychology"; and attempts to promote the writing spirituality development by using the methods and principles of "A Course in Miracles" for reference.Chapter Three:Zen and the Improvement of State of Mind in Writing. State of mind, in one aspect, refers to writer’s composure which may keep himself in the state without distractions; in the other aspect, it refers to writer’s power of intelligence, the way he thinks of the world, and the state of mind he might approach. In this chapter, by illuminating fundamental Zen Buddhism, author represents how to cultivate oneself by Sadhana, eventually commits to exploration of expanding minds, inspiring wisdom and improving the state of mind in writing.By studying three aspects mentioned above, it is sufficiently proved that writing potentiality stimulation is not merely probable and feasible, but also indispensable. All three methods are directing writers to introspection that writing potentiality stimulation insists on,other than extrinsic research.
