The military history of Tsar-Russia, involving complex issues, is an important part of the modern European military history, or even the modern world military history. Russia had joined the capitalism group since the early 20th century. Different forms of monopolizing group, such as carte, syndicate, had appeared since 1880s. Until the early 20th century, Russia stepped into the most advanced stage of capitalism----imperialism, more or less in the same time as the Europe and America did, when it was an expanding period for Russia. Russia laid great stress on the development of military forces. Economically supported, Alexandriaâ…¡, Alexandriaâ…¢,Nicolaâ…¡, needed the forces to stabilize the crown on their heads. This article analyzes the military potentiality of Russia in the early 20th century in details in three parts.The first part is about the Russian military potentiality during the Japan-Russian War. The author analyzes the military potentiality of Russian here through comparing the military strength of the two countries and analyzing the reason why Japan win the war.From 1904 to 1905, the conflict on"Interference on Returning the North Liao Peninsula"was intensified between Russian and Japan. Japan raided to start the war contending for the hegemony in the Fareast and Pacific, on the battle of the Northeast China and DPRK. It was a heavy blow to the land and sea forces of Russia, especially the navy, with the Pacific Fleet completely defeated. After the war, the Russia navy fell from rank-three of the world to six. Why was such a mighty European military country defeated by newly rising Japan? Reasons are as followed:On an overview, Japan is far behind Russia in labor power, material resources, territory, government taxation, military funds, and total tonnage of navy warship. But on the battle of Fareast, Japan surpasses Russia in many aspects, and it emphasizes the strategy planning. Russian loses not only in one reason.
