The Research Of Psychology Of Tujia People’s Religious Belief In West Hubei

Religious belief is a kind of common cultural phenomenon. According to itsunique natural environment and social and culture, Tujia pepole who are being intowering and steep mountains have created a variety of forms of religion. It has notonly primitive religion which includes natural worship, totem worship and ancestorworship, but also systematic traditional religion which includes Buddhism, Taoism,Catholicism. The cause of religious belief has its psychological root, that is thesense of awe of nature and the sense of attachment to society, and the demand fordesire and emotion. These religions are closely related to the formation of Tujiapeople’s national character. They affect the value and life philosophy of Tujia people,and also have a important influence on every aspect of Tujia people’s life. It is not anaccident that they can have being thousands of years in society of Tujia people. It isbecause of their many unique functions, such as psychological comfort,psychological digestion, psychological motivation and personality sublimation,ecological protection, social integration, and other functions. These functions play animportant impact on Tujia people’s society and culture.This article collects material through the field work, besides it analyses thepsychological root and social functions of religious belief of Tujia people in westHubei, using the theory of anthropology of religion, religious psychology, andfunctionalist theory. Through research, I hope to offer reference for academia tofurther explore of the religious culture of Tujia people in west Hubei. what’s more,I hope it is helpful to rationally understand Tujia people’s religious belief.
