Ershi Gao is a typical scholar of modern Chinese calligraphy. He is revered bygenerations for his wide knowledge, sublime art of calligraphy and clank steel frame,doesnot the pursuit of fame and status. Ershi Gao contribution to the study of cursive style isoutstanding, especially for Zhangcao study. He lasted ten years to complete the book,"XinDing Ji Jiu Zhang Kao Zheng”, which fill the blank of the history. His unique style of "Si TiShu" has high artistic value. In the "Lanting debate", he did not fear authority and speakbluntly. His rigorous scholarship attitude and academic character of the firm’s are lastinglegacy. Ershi Gao unique course and practice of calligraphy book calligraphy thought haveprofound learning reference for the moment calligraphy learning.This artical reseachs the art style of Ershi Gao’s calligraphy from four aspects. Firstly,it is the generalization of calligraphy practice course. We divided his study time into threeperiods which are early, middle and late period. We make a analysis and summarize aboutthe featured of Ershi Gao’s calligraphy works and books on every period. At the same timegot the shortcomings of his calligraphy. Secondly, through the analysis of itsrepresentativeZhangcao,Kuangcao,Xingshu calligraphy to explain its unique artisticstyle.Thirdly,through the analysis of their poetry, letters, inscriptions and the article in"Lanting debate" and his monograph to dissect his book thought. Fourthly, throughreviewing of the practice of Ershi Gao’s calligraphy course and refining his contribution tothe art of calligraphy we can draw on some calligraphy inspiration for our current study.
