Zhang Tingji, also named Shu Wei, Wei Ting, a person of Xin Huang Jia Xing, was a famous epigrapher, calligrapher and seal-scholar. This thesis is special research on Zhang Tingji’s epigraphy collection, calligraphic theories and Chinese calligraphy seal theories.The thesis is divided into three chapters. With support of firs hand literature, chapter one explores Zhang Tingji’s life and corrects people’s ambiguity on his dates, used names and appellations, choosing big figures and events on his academic studies to teasing out its academic source and inheritance relationship. Chapter two firstly reveals his achievements on epigrapher from aspects of his collection, identification, explanation and spread of ancient works. Secondly, it analyzes his calligraphic theories and Chinese calligraphy seal theories under epigraphic notion to gain his calligraphic notion that calligraphy cannot be divided into the South and the North, as well as his sealistic ideology that seal-cutting should learn form models in Han Dynasties. Chapter three applies methods of annals to mirror his specific events in epigraphy and calligraphy, aiming to make Zhang’s academic studied acknowledged more intuitively.
