This paper is a study of Husserl inner time consciousness. The study is based onthe book Inner time consciousness of Phenomenology written by Husserl (translatedto Chinese by KangLiang Ni) and other related papers. By reading and analyzingthese books and papers, I will give a description that how the time construct itself inconsciousness in this paper as the main purpose. Besides, I will give a more in-depthdiscussion on the basic concepts which will be useful in the time-related problem. These concepts will be the basic elements that help the understanding of the way timeconstructing itself in consciousness. Effort also has been made on the understandingof the nature of inner time consciousness using methods of Phenomenology. Byanalyzing the theory of inner time consciousness, we can truly understand the basicmethodology of Phenomenology, and the way Phenomenology lay the foundation ofscience.Time-related problem is one of the most elementary philosophy problem. SomePhilosophers from ancient Greek have already start to study it. They thought time is amovement. The great Aristotle made a criticize on this judgment. He proposed thattime is a countable number in his book Physics. Aurelius Augustinus introduced thetime-related problem into the field of consciousness in the middle age. This affects thestudy of Husserl directly. Aurelius Augustinus defined that time is the continue ofthoughts. This was really a breakthrough on the problem. Before Husserl, the mostexcellent work was proposed by Brentano, who was Husserl’s teacher. He proposed aPsychology rule when answering the question how time is constructed in theconsciousness. By this rule, a series of continuous performance will form aobjectivation. Every item in this series which depends on the older items producesthe future items. This is a primary association. This is a original association, asuccess of imagination.this imagination is not only productive, but also create a newmoment, it means the imagination create the changing moment,The study of time by Husserl is started from criticizing his teacher. His sourcematerial of the study on time-related problem is distinguished from Brentano. Hethought that there existed an objective time in the theory proposed by his teacher. Objective events should be Epoche, since they are transcendental. Secondly,Husserlthought that time perception and time imagination should be distinguished. Howeverhis teacher did not make this important division. Third, Husserl pointed out there wasa deficiency in Brentano’s analysis on time perception. He thought that it was notappropriate to consider the past staff as non-existent. He criticized that his teacher didnot make a correct analysis on the difference between time-content and interestsbehavior, especially did not study the time consciousness correctly. After all these criticizes, Husserl started to study the time-problem usingphenomenology methodology. He extracted objective time first of all, then confirmedthe source material, constructed individual perception objects. He defined thestructure of individual time as a Zeithof, this Zeithof structure constitutes by theoriginary impression, retention and protention. in this lecture, Husserl did not talk theprotention a lot since he hasn’t understand it fully. He emphasized the concepts oforiginary impression and retention。The concept of retention take over the role offresh memory. Husserl also distinguished between second memory and retention. Andhe also discussed the importance of memory when constructing the individualperception. This paper are just a study of the manuscript by Husserl from1904to2005.Belnau manuscripts is not mentioned here since it’s after2005. Husserl neveradmitted that the current work is an end, however, he consider these as a new start ofthe next study.
