Zizhou country stands on the north of Shaanxi and the south of Yulin area, and its dialectbelongs to the Wutai sub-dialect of Jin dialect. This paper mainly describes the old dialect ofXichuan as a representative of Zizhou dialect.By language theories of structuralism, historical linguistics, and phonology, the articleexamines the uniformities and differences of Zizhou dialect with many methods, such asinvestigation, description, statistics and comparative study. It also focuses on the phenomenonof the entering tones and the voice relaxation for variation in Zizhou dialect, which is treatedin the standalone chapter.The context of the paper includes five parts. The first part is an introduction, abouthistory of Zizhou country, ownership and the interior differences of Zizhou dialect,researching significance, methods, special explanation, and maps of the article. The secondpart sums up the phonology of Xichuan dialect, including the rhyme, the monosyllabiccharacters, and disyllable sandhi. The third part is the homophones of Xichuan dialect ofZizhou town. The fourth part researches the pronunciations of Xichuan dialect as theviewpoint of synchronic and a diachronic, and then, summarizes the phonetic characteristicsof Xichuan dialect. With the related statistical analysis, the fifth part examines the evolutionof the entering tones in Xichuan dialect. It includes detailed statistical analysis of the enteringtones and the voice relaxation for variation between in the past and present, the analysis oftypes, distributions, evolution about the entering tones in Zizhou dialect of Xichuan, andfinally, explains the phenomenon of voice relaxation for variation and the heteronym both inthe language theories of Chinese history and modern Chinese.
