Museum, a condensation of core historical memory of state and nation, is a public institution to provide citizens with knowledge and culture education as well as a place to display heritage entity which represents natural and human beings culture. It’s a rare treasure for a region, a nation and even for a country. With the awakening of civic culture consciousness, awareness of the different regional culture and communication contributed to the rise of cultural tourism. Additionally, free opening museums sprung up in recent years, which led to new changes in museum, and also brought new opportunities and challenges to the development of museum. The commercial market of museum has been bound by its welfare. In culture exchange and tourism operation, how does the museum’s good public image and its own historical culture advantage, through the exploitation of innovative cultural products, explore unique business opportunities and make people deliver knowledge and information about history, culture, art science of a nation, which is a important problem deserving museum cultural products designers to think.As the only comprehensive museum of history and culture in Hubei, Hubei provincial museum owns unique cultural resource.collections in museum, as the carrier of traditional historical culture, has particular advantage of exploiting cultural products which own the museum features. Ancient bells, drums and other Cultural relic replicas from Hubei provincial museum have been salable for many years and also been popular with travelers. But to restore and copy relics is just one aspect of collections to promote. How to reasonably develop innovative cultural products still have great space to explore. How to effectively combine the historical culture and artistic value of the museum collections with modern product design and explore innovative products of museum features and find new ways to fit for museum culture products design, which also be an important issue.On the base of “cultivating culture by culture”, this paper, starting with the opportunities and challenges that museums face, analyzes the necessity and feasibility of Hubei museum exploring cultural and innovative products, effectively summarizes the design principle of that, exploratorily analyzes the cultural and creative product design methods and processes. Aims to provide some new ideas to develop cultural and creative product design of Hubei Provincial Museum and provide useful guidance for future design and related reference.
