With the accelerating process of globalization, the exchanges at all levels between Chinaand the world increase with each passing day. A growing number of leaders throughout theworld seek to visit China and will deliver a speech on some particular occasions. So there aremore and more cases of speech interpretation, which greatly increases the value of the studyof this kind.In August2011, US Vice President Joe Biden paid a visit to China and delivered aspeech in Sichuan University, in which he aired his opinion on a range of issues includingeconomy, politics and trade between China and US and expressed the attitude US holdstowards these issues. Based on the speech of Joe Biden in Sichuan University, this report hasbeen finished. It consists of five parts, including the task description, the proceduredescription, interpretation preparation, the case analysis as well as the summary andconclusion. The task description gives a brief introduction about the content and the languagefeatures of the speech. The procedure description makes a detailed description of the overalltranslation practice process, including collecting data in the preparation before the task, theskills and the difficulties in the process of the task and the summary after the interpretation.The interpretation preparation makes a detailed description about the news in August2011from which I know the affairs in and outside our country in that period, the possible phrasesin the speech, and the speech style of Biden. The case analysis part is the essence of thisreport, using the typical examples as analyzing materials. This part lists the interpretationskills and the errors. The summary and conclusion part points out the direction of my learningin the future.
