| The original text of this translation project is selected from Chapters I to VI of The Plan, written by John Francis Kinsella. The author completed this book in 2012.The purpose is to make readers correctly understand the economic crisis and other relevant economic issues and obtain relevant knowledge. This translation task belongs to novel texts with economic and social commentary. The communicative translation theory put forward by the British translation theorist Peter Newmark is more applicable to informational texts, and this article includes not only the informative, but also the vocative function that the author wants to convey to the readers, such as the author’s subjective evaluation.Under the guidance of this theory, the text is analyzed at lexical, syntactical and discoursal level, and the translator has used several translation methods, including literal translation, free translation, addition, division, conversion, and combination.Through this translation practice, the following conclusions are as follows: the translation of novel texts involving economic and social commentary should achieve accurate transmission of information and expression of the author’s emotional attitude. At the lexical level, the meaning of words should be explained accurately;at the syntactical level,a translation method suitable for readers’ reading habits should be selected;at the discourse level, some key words can be emphasized to make the translation easier to understand. |
