As a hot research in metacognitive areas, study time allocation of individual has been the concern of many researchers. Study time allocation is one indicator of the metacognitive control and impact individual learning outcomes. Among the traditional study of study time allocation, researchers take the selection of items and self-paced learning time as indicators investigated characteristics of study time allocation. There are many factors affecting individual’s study time allocation, including the nature of the learning materials, the project score, item difficulty, time limit, learner factors and so on. This study is to investigate nuder the effects of different score and time limitation, material familiarity how to affect individual’s study time allocation. And further explore the internal mechanism of the study time allocation. This study employed Dunlosky’s experimental paradigm, and use the expert and novice to examine the effects of material familiarity. The study included four experimental experiments, examine1investigated the impact of material familiarity under simple contexts; experiment2a investigated the impact of material familiarity under the different item score conditions,; experiment2b investigated the impact of material familiarity under the time limit conditions; experiment3investigated the impact of material familiarity under the complex contexts.Experiment1take40undergraduates as subjects, setting a simple learning situation, Experiment2a take30undergraduates as subjects, setting a different item scores situation, Experiment2b take40undergraduates as subjects, set a time limit situations, Experiment3take40undergraduates as subjects, set a complex learning situations. This three experiments manipulated the material familiar, item score and time limit variables to explore material familiarity how to affect individual’s study time allocation. Following under conclusions:一、In the simple learning situation, the novice group’s study time was significantly higher than the group of experts.二、Under the situation of different item scores, the novice group’s study time was significantly higher than the group of experts. The novice group’s select the high-scoring item significantly higher than the low-scoring item, and there is no significantly different in the expert group.三、Under the time limit, there is no significantly different between the novice group and the expert group.四、Under the complex learning situations, the novice group’s study time and the expert group were not significantly different. Under the two kind of time limit, the expert group select more items than the novice group, familiarity had an impact on the number of re-learning items of individual choice. Under conditions of low time limit, the novice group and the expert group both tend to select items with higher scores, under conditions of high time limit, only the novice group subjects will continue to choose the high score items, the expert group were no significant differences in select different score items. Under the two kinds of time constraints, The average weight of two kinds of time constraints, the novice group and the expert group both spend more time on he high-scoring items.
