Starting from Wang Chong’s bumpy political career experience and his strong utilitrarian purpose, with the fortune-telling custom of the Han Dynasty and its great social influence, this paper uses literature method, to study the numerology thoughts of first15chapters of Wang Chong’s "Lun Heng". The puepose of this article is to provide a new possible to understand Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts, from the viewpoint of folklore.This article is divided into six parts:The introduction part includes the origin of this paper, Wang Chong and his "Lun Heng" and literature review of Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts. Among these three parts, Wang Chong and his "Lun Heng" will focus on Wang Chong’s strong utilitrarian purpose、heterogeneous academic system of thought, as well as the rough historical destiny of "Lun Heng". And the literature review of will introduce the views of materialist school, Deng Hong, and other attempts to restore the tare colours of Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts.The second part is the specific content of Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts, and the paper will sketch out the outline of Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts by the relationgship between "fate"and "sex"、"heavens"、"Qi"、"Shi"、"Ti"、"Qiu".At the same time, there will be a simple introduction to the contradiction in Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts and the theoretical sources of Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts. Combined with Wang Chong’s bumpy political career experience and his strong utilitrarian purpose,"fate", for Wang Chong and his "Lun Heng", can be said as the summsry and sublimation of his life experience.The third part is Wang Chong’s criticism of secular superstition and taboo. Wang Chong’s criticism, involing a very wide range, and what is more important is that, based on the criticism, he can correctly analyze why the secular superstition and taboo are so popular. However, Wang Chong’s critique is not thorough, notable among them, Wang Chong seems in critical divination defense, but in reality for them. Wang Chong claims "Lun Heng" as a critical work, Wang Chong’s fierce criticism of secular superstition and taboo, rather than for the fate of the thrall, forming a sharp contrast, devout attitude Wang Chong for the fate of the more prominent.The fourth part is about the fortune-telling custom of the Han Dynasty. This chapter will focus on divination, physiognomy that are popular in Han Dynasty, by whivh to highlight the secular tendency of divination, the prosperity of Hanyi and the unprecedented frenzy of physiognomy. At the same time, there will be a simple introdunction of Astrology, free ringtones, the five elements,Ganzhi and zodiac fortune-telling that are also popular in Han Dynasty.The fifth part is about the influence of the fortune-telling custom of the Han Dynasty. In terms of politics and military, the fortune-telling custom has an impottant role in decision-making, lifting the doubts as well as personal appointments. In terms of everday life, the influence of the fortune-telling custom to the people of the Han Dynasty sometimes simple has been the point of the all-perasive. In the process of the marriage and dating of the Han Dynasty, we can also see the the influence of the fortune-telling custom and the physiognomists. Besides, to many people, the fortune-telling custom has become an important spiritual support when they are sad and wandering.The sixth part is the conclusion. The past research for Wang Chong’s numerology thought mostly focused on the point of view of the history of philosophy or ideology, and often ignored the popularity of the fortune-telling custom of the Han Dynasty, which is the background of the times of Wang Chong’s numerology thought. Starting from the binding and susceptibility to infection of folklore, the puepose of this article is to provide a new possible to understand Wang Chong’s numerology thoughts, from the viewpoint of folklore.
