| Higher Vocational Education plays an important role in cultivating studentswith high qualities and professional skills. Different from other universities, vocationalcolleges should pay more attention to the cultivation of students’ application ability. Asone of the foundation courses, College English should stress the training of students’ability of communication skills. Currently, there have been quite a few problems inEnglish teaching of higher vocational colleges, such as lack of vocational characteristics,attaching more importance to tests instead of ability of listening and speaking and so on.In that case, students can not obtain abilities of English communication which theemployers require. At present, the researches on CBE are not sufficient in the country,so the adoption of Competence-Based Education (CBE) in Sichuan Vocational Collegeof Finance and Economics will be significant. It can arouse people’s interest in Englishteaching reform of higher vocational colleges. This thesis will put the new theory intothe English teaching reform, recognize the current situation of teaching in vocationalcolleges, compare the theory of CBE with traditional teaching models and bring uppractical teaching methods and measures with the designed teaching experiments. Thethesis wants to testify if the theory is practical in English teaching and how to promotethe students’ abilities of English communication.The second chapter of this thesis states a survey of the study and application athome and abroad. In chapter3, the thesis defines CBE teaching model, and analyzes thedifferences between the traditional teaching model and CBE model, demonstrating thesuperiority of CBE. In chapter4, the author analyzes the current situation of Englishteaching in Sichuan Vocational College of Finance and Economics. In chapter5, theteaching project directed by CBE teaching model is designed. An experiment is carriedout to testify the advantages of CBE model. |
