In the practice of simultaneous interpretation, interpreters almost need to complete three tasks simultaneously, namely listening, memorizing and interpreting, which obviously will impose great pressure on the interpreter’s brain. For the purpose of coordinating these three tasks in such a short time and accomplishing the process of interpretation on the premise of the accuracy of target language, interpreters usually adopts the method of syntactic linearity, which is now considered to be a golden rule for those professional simultaneous interpreters. By use of "US President Obama’s inauguration speech in2013" as the study material and referring to the precious research achievements on syntactic linearity, the author not only analyzes the necessity and feasibility of syntactic linearity in simultaneous interpretation, but also presents actual examples to learn how the professional interpreter to realize syntactic linearity in simultaneous interpretation. At the same time, the author also summarizes the strategies and skills of syntactic linearity in attributive clause, adverbial clause, passive structure, comparative structure, noun and preposition structure, aiming to provide some references for training and practice for simultaneous interpreters.
