Word_N+2 Parafoveal Processing Influences The Processing Of High Frequency Word_N+1 In Chinese Reading

The preview benefit is one of focus problem in reading study.In the studies which use boundary paradigm about the preview benefit of the word of N+2,have found that the information that got from word N+2in parafoveal during reading word N,would influence the processing of word N+l.so,to research more about this phenomenon in Chinese reading,and hope to find weather the type of preview information of word N+2affect the processing of word N+1.This study include3experiments.Experiment1was a2(preview of target word:identical preview and control preview)×2(preview of word N+2:identical preview and noncharacter) within-subject design. The purpose of Experiment1was to test the different type preview information of word N+2influence on target word processing which of different type preview of target word.Experiment2was a2(preview of target word:identical preview and control preview)×2(preview of word N+2:identical preview and noncharacter) within-subject design. The difference between Experiment2and Experiment1,was that the target word was similar with the first character in orthography.The main purpose of this experiment was to test the preview information of word N+2influence on target word when the target word and the first character of word N+2was similar especially the preview of target was control preview.Experiment3was a2(preview of target word:identical preview and character of little strokes preview)×2(preview of word N+2:identical preview and character similar with target character preview) within-subject design.The main purpose of this experiment was to test the preview information of word N+2influence on target word when the preview of target need less attention resource. On the basic of the date,draw the following conclusions:(1)The preview of word N+2significantly hinder the processing of the target word;(2)When preview type of target was significantly different,the preview of target would significantly influence the processing of the word which one been gazed currently.And the preview of word N+2also would influence the processing of the currently gazed word when the preview of target need less attention resource;(3) There were the preview benefit of word N+2when the preview of target need less attention resource;(4) The influence of the information of preview of word N+2on target support the SWIFT model.
