| This report is abo’ut the authors task on Service Outsourcing Program for AfricanCountries describing the author’s role both as an escort interpreter and a lectureinterpreter.The author ifrstly introduces the background of Service Outsourcing Program forAfrican Countries. Looking back to the process of the task, the author depicts thepreparation before interpretation, the process of the task and the summary of the task.The author focuses on describing two interpreting tasks——liaison interpreting andlecture interpreting.In chapter three, the author lists some typical cases in her interpretation practiceand in the process of writing the internship report, with the problems and strategiesincluded. The author tries to put forward and analyze the problems that occurred ininterpreting namely the usage of notes, the mentality of interpreter and the culturaldifferences. By elaborating how the three factors affect interpretation quality, theauthor tends to come up with the corresponding strategies to solve them.Through the overall record and analysis of the task, some conclusions are drawn.Firstly, in the ifeld which the interpreter is unfamiliar with, it is of great importance tomake all sorts of pre-preparation. Secondly, as an interpreter, serving as the bridge ofcultural exchanges, he should have good mentality and professional ethics. Thirdly,with regards to notes, as long as it can facilitate the interpreting process, notes inwhichever form can be acceptable and be used. Fourthly, ifnishing internship report isas important as internship itself. The report which was written after internship providestheoretical basis for this thesis. |
