Cultural relics translation involves a great deal of cultural and linguisticinformation. In the process of cultural relics translation nowadays, there exists muchloss of meaning loss in cultural and linguistic information when Chinese is translatedinto English. This paper takes the perspective of untranslatability to scrutinize thecurrent circumstances of the cultural relics translation, and therefore providesuggestions and solutions to ease the deficiencies which have occurred in thetranslation.The introduction part discusses the objective and purpose of the study. The firstchapter is the literature review, introducing the theory of untranslatability and China’sresearch on cultural relics translation. The second chapter introduces the concept ofcultural relics translation and scrutinize the current deficiencies and circumstances ofuntranslatability. The third chapter details in the reason caused by untranslatability,and analyzes that the untranslatability of cultural relics translation lies in its culturaluntranslatability and linguistic untranslatability. Based on the problems raised in thechapters before, the fourth chapter offers suggestions and solutions in order toimprove the whole translation of museums in both micro and macro ways.
