| Shuowenjiezi, compiled by Xu Shen in Eastern Han Dynasty, is the foundation stone ofChinese philology and the first system complete dictionary in China. The book collects9353words and1163variations, including540radicals. Erya is the first dictionary writtenaccording to meaning in China which collects2019entries.Compared to Erya, Shuowenjiezimake a significant in innovation and inheritance in terms of paraphrase and the idea ofwriting.Shuowen·Cao Radical totally collects445words,31variations and13attached newwords. Most of the words owning Cao Radicals have a intimate relationship with grass andthey record the names of grass or similar plants in Han Dynasty and even before. It plays anvery important role in studying name and types of plants and planting culture in HanDynasty. Further more, Erya·Shicao play a significant role in distinguishing different kinds ofgrass plants.In this paper, in order to Shuowenjiezi original word and Erya·Shicao as the object ofstudy, using the research methods of comparison, about herbs vocabulary list systematicallyShuowenjiezi original word and Erya·Shicao, In order to reveal the development andevolution of these words. Using the theory of Exegetics specific analysis, Shuowen·CaoRadical and Erya·Shicao release method of explaining words, summarize and perfect methodof explaining words and explaining words form innovation. Finally, by comparing with TheModern Chinese Dictionary, making a comb to Shuowenjiezi original part character lines withthe situation. |
