In the history of Chinese Graphology, Shuo Wen Jie Zi is the first dictionary which areclassified according to radicals. The research of radicals has always been the focus ofacademic circles. The thesis chooses some words as the research object. The radicals of thesewords have some relationship with animals, so we can call these words “animal radicalwords”. Using the theory of Chinese Character Configuration, the thesis analyzes theconfiguration evolution of animal radical words and observes the trend of the configurationevolution of animal radical words in the stage of ancient Chinese Characters.The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is the introduction part, whichmainly includes the reasons of choosing this topic, the meanings of choosing this topic andthe determination of the research subjects. Using the six-script theory, the second chapteranalyzes the structure types of animal radical words into statistic data and summarizes thestructures developing of animal radical words.The third chapter is the focus part of the thesis.Using the theory of Chinese Character Configuration, this part makes a concrete analysis ofthe configuration evolution of animal radical words and creates a classification of conditionsof the configuration evolution. In the fourth chapter, the thesis divides the meanings of theanimal radical words into several kinds. On the basis of the division, it attempts to observe thesystematic of the developing of configuration from the perspective of semantic.
