The modern Chinese preposition occupies the important status in Chinesegrammar system. Modern Chinese preposition belongs to a closed type, small numberbut high frequency in daily communication. The main grammatical function isattached to the other word which is in front of the words acting as adverbialpreposition phrase in a sentence, sometimes used as attributive, complement andobject.As a preposition structure of "preposition+NP", whose itself is a wholestructure, there is no looming problem, but after "preposition+NP" formsprepositions entering the statement,"preposition+NP" forms prepositions with thecombination of "NP" showed the complicated relationship. This paper will take"preposition+NP" as the research object, focuses on analyzing the preposition oflooms, after the structure into the sentence.The first part is the introduction of this article, mainly stated the significance ofthis study, the scope, method, purpose theoretical guidance, and the source of corpus.The second part is the first chapter of this paper, mainly introducing modernChinese preposition and prepositional looms. On the basis of this article, puttingforward to the main research content, explained the modern Chinese prepositionlooming constraint, according to the theory of cognitive linguistics as the background.Summed up the shortcomings of previous studies, based on this, advances the maincontent of research, that is, from one type of prepositions, regard the cognitivelinguistics as the theoretical framework, studied the modern Chinese prepositionlooms.The third part is chapter two of this article, which mainly described the modernChinese preposition looms in detail. Due to space constraints, this article only choosesthe preposition indicating manner and object class prepositions based on descriptionand analysis. Through the analysis, we get preposition looming mainly has three kindsof situations: one is the preposition forced to appear. No preposition, no originalsentence. Second, the preposition limited looms. Presence or absence of a preposition,changes the semantics of the original sentence structure. Three is a preposition freelylooms. Presence or absence of a preposition, the semantics of the original sentence structure does not change.The fourth part is chapter three of this article, explained the preposition loomingconstraint from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. We start from topic mark,cognitive solidification psychology and Principle of cognitive economy to be done up.The fifth part is the epilogue of this paper, reporting findings, pointing out thedeficiency of this study.
