"li" Class The Preposition Framework Of Syntax, Semantics, And The Looming Law

This thesis focuses on the preposition frame "PX里l",which is combined by prepositions and "里".It is composed of four chapters apart from the preface and the conclusion.Chapter One discusses the component and the nature of "PX里",then investigates the basic syntactic function and syntactic distributions of "PX里".As other preposition phrases, "PX里" can be in front of the subject,in front of the verb and behind the verb.With the aspect of syntactic function,"PX里 "can be used as front modifier of sentence,adverbial modifier, parentheses,complement,and also can be used as attribute and object.Chapter Two concludes the semantic function of "PX里" through analysing the meaning of "里"and X.The basic semantic function of"PX里" is to denote the position:the place where the action happens and the place where the situation is,the origin of the action,the place where the action passes through,the destination of the action,and the direction of the action.In modern Chinese, "PX里" can also express the time meaning and other abstract meanings.The grammatical mechanism of "PX里" expresses the time meaning is metaphor. The grammatical mechanism of "PX里" expresses other abstract meanings is generalization.Then concludes that there is connection between the semantic function and syntactic distributions.Chapter Three investigates the connection and difference between "PX里" and "PX里", "PX里" in semantic. Firstly we analyses the connection and difference between "里" and "中", "上" in basic postion meaning,then concludes the connection and difference between "PX里" and "PX中", "PX上" in basic postional meaning and other abstract meanings.Chapter Four concludes the regulations of the default of "PX里",and looks for the default mechanism.Firstly we investigates the formation reasons of the preposition frame "PX里" in history,then we investigates the default regulations,the possibilities of the default,and the compensation in syntactic and semantic.
