The Implications For Art And Design Education Teaching Method From Narrative

It’s a basic task of art and design education to cultivate students’ creative thinking andpractical ability, which is also the advantage of art and design education. There is a generalconsensus in educators on improving students’ creative thinking. This ability could bemotivated preferably by making a discussion on teaching method to achieve the essentialpurpose of art and design education. How to use teaching method has a direct impact on theachievement of instructional goals. It is an urgent problem to deal with that how to putteaching method in a probable way and adapt by certain teaching configuration oforganization and the contents of the course.For a long time, many educators all consistently devote themselves to the research ofteaching methods. And the author is also making a contribution to it. This paper, takingstudents’ creative thinking and practical ability as a start, analyzes and expounds the theoriesand methods related to narrative, gets some implications based on these theories and methods.All of that is a difficult and rough task.Narrative is a subject on researching narrative theory and narrative method whichappeared in the1960s. No matter drama, film or television, narrative affects all of usthroughout our lives. There exists narrative since the human history itself appeared. Narrativeis an instinct of human being that was born with.When we were child, we were eager to listen to various stories. Children became to learnknowledge, got to know how to be a person from the stories. From then on, educationbecomes attached to narrative closely. It is this narrative method that the educator gets theimplications from.Nowadays, the adjustment of art and design education in our country is being in anirregular condition, which requires using the reaching methods more reasonably. It’s animportant task of the teaching and the reform to stimulate student’s creative thinkingeffectively and cultivate student’s practical ability during the art and design education. Thispaper also attempts to get the implications from analyzing the present situation of art anddesign education and narrative. This paper consists of five parts: the first part is introduction. The second part is the aimof art and design education, mainly concluding the aim of education and the aim of art anddesign education. The third part is the teaching methods research of art and design education,mainly discussing the teaching method connotation, teaching methods evolution and thepresent situation of domestic and foreign art and design education and teaching method. Theforth part is the implications for art and design education teaching methods from narrative.The fifth part is the concluding remarks.
