The Application And Performance Of Narrative Thinking In Book Design

The large-scale data application in the information age has had a subversive impact on traditional media.Reading is the most typical case.The change of information carrier has made the dissemination method and reading method richly extended,but the question of the essence of reading has always existed what is the ontology of reading,what is the relationship between paper media and digital media in current publishing.Book design also focuses on topics such as the role of the current media and its future possibilities.Book design is a systematic design composed of text,images,symbols and materials,printing,binding,etc.,Narrative is the study of narrative style;and the large-capacity information of books and the information structure based on timeline.They make it possible to discuss narratives in book design.This paper focuses on paper books and explores the possibility of narrative thinking in book design.It is an interdisciplinary study of narrative thinking applied to book design.Through the introduction of narrative thinking in book design,it is possible to clear the design ideas of the book designer and enrich the reader's reading experience.This paper starts with the narrative as the main line,from the analysis of the Event construction,the Story structure,the inherent relationship of the specific application of grammar in narrative thinking,the hierarchical discussion of the nature of narrative thinking in book design,and through the case analysis,Thus,the application of narrative thinking in book design is realized.Chapter 1 introduces the background and current situation,the research object and content,the research purpose and significance,the paper method and ideas,and the innovation points of this paper,which lays a foundation for the following research.Chapter 2,through the detailed description of the relationship between narrative and design,the analysis of the characteristics of book design,to study the significance andimportance of the combination of the two,and draw important information and opinions that can be used for the following.Chapters 3 and 4 respectively correspond the narrative structure to the book design from the level of "theory" and "practice",and specifically guide the design method to discuss how to achieve the best narrative effect of the book through different storytelling levels.From the Event construction,Story structure one by one,internalization in the logical structure;from the book binding,typography design,the overall atmosphere creation,reading experience enhancement and other aspects of the design expression.Chapter 5,through my design practices,validates the opinion from the previous chapters.Chapter 6,summarizes the full paper,and looks forward to the possibility of future book design.
