This is an English-Chinese translation report for Conference Interpreting Explained (Chapter Two). It is an excerpt from Conference Interpreting Explained (Written by Roderick Jones, Chapter Two). The original belongs to applied writing, which mainly aims to convey specific information. There are six aspects discussed in the original text, including understanding, analysis, identification of ideas, analysis of links, memory and re-express. As in this report, Chapter1gives an overall introduction to the translation report, including the content, background information, translation target as well as the structure of the report. Chapter2states the Functional Equivalence theory and makes analysis on the language character of the original text. Chapter3discusses the approaches and methods in the translation from the prospective of the Functional Equivalence theory. Chapter4makes a summary of the translation report, points out what the author has gained from the translation activity, including the obtained experience and the weakness in translation.Based on the Functional Equivalence theory, proposed by Eugene Nida, this report provides a thorough analysis and statement for the problems found in the translation procedure and their solutions, through quantities of translation cases.
