Parsing The Sketch Spirit Of Flower And Bird Painting Of Huayan From Taipei Museum

Basing on the biograhy of HuaYan, this paper first analyzes the sketchbook of HuaYan from the Palace Musume of Taipei, through three differentperiods of his youth, maturity and old ages. And then, as HuaYan’s works onflowers and birds are specified, the author also illustrates the sketchingtechnics and artistic characteristics of those paintings. Especially, thecharacteristics and individual character style of HuaYan in materials, plasticimage, and images of the subjective mood expression is discussed. What’more, the author made a contract on HuaYan’s flowers and birds paintingworks including pen, ink, color characteristics. The method and reflects of thecharacteristics is described.After the comprehensive analysis on the distinguishing feature of thissketching book, the paper made a vertical analysis about the origin of birdsand flowers sketching, characterstics of birds and flowers sketchings at SongDynasty, the relevance between sketchings of HuaYan and Song Dynaty, andso on. In order to get a full range comprehension about HuaYan’s birds andflowers wrokings, horizontal comparison is made between HuaYan andYangzhou Eight Eccentrics Painters in the historical perspective. Finally,concerning the effect of HuaYan left behind, this paper make a furtherillustration HuaYan’s historical position and artical characteristics.
