Economic globalization deepens the cultural exchange among different countries so that the cultural industry has been developing quickly and plays as much important as possible in pushing the state’s economic development. The film industry is the core aspect of the cultural industry, which is one of the most influential ways in showing the culture of one country. However, in the fierce competition environment of global culture, Chinese film culture still takes a disadvantage in spreading film culture. When attending some important international festivals of film and TV culture, the competitiveness of Chinese film industry is extruded and threatened by some western developed countries. Staying in such a fierce competitive worldwide film industry market, the Chinese film industry is facing enormous challenges.In the background mentioned above at home and abroad, this paper summarizes the general situation and the competitiveness of the industry in present situation; and compare the differences of the film context, financing ways and marketing system between China and America in the view of the key factors that influence the development of Chinese film industry; and would like to learn the advantage of American film industry. After the comparison and analyses we have found that there are still some shortcomings such as the lost of national culture, financing difficulties and imperfect marketing system because of the lateness of Chinese film industry development, although it has been developed quickly in recent years.When enhancing the competitiveness of the movie industry in China, the government needs to develop the film industry market, and fully protect film industry intellectual property rights, and provide well financing environment for the film production. For the film industry itself, the filmmakers should have the consciousness of the brand marketing strategy, find out accurate film markets and improve the film industry chain. When making the film, the filmmakers should also pay attention to the combination of movies theme and digital high-tech, and diversify the film types, and create Chinese value with nationality spirit as well as absorbing excellent film culture of other countries. When learning the reasons of American success in its film industry, we should also find our own advantages to develop the Chinese movie industry with its unique features and spread Chinese culture through the screen.
