Despite embarrassment is an uncomfortable experience of annoying, moderateembarrassment is advantageous to the individual constraining on their behavior inaccordance with the rules, and also to normal social interaction. Most infant aroundthe age of2show the embarrassment, and with the development of social andself-consciousness, young children’s embarrassment development is continuous.At present, researchers of the embarrassment at home and abroad, examines theconcept, expression and neural mechanisms, etc., through the questionnaire method,interview method, nonverbal behavior coding, brain imaging technology, and eyemovement technology. But the development law of the children’s embarrassment isstill lack of systematic study.This research constructs the two-dimensional structure of young children’sembarrassment, and compiles the corresponding questionnaire named “the teacherevaluation questionnaire of young children’s embarrassment”, adopting theexploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis method, and then uses thesituational experiment to verified on the questionnaire; And then using the self-madequestionnaire, this research surveys577children’s embarrassment, investigating thedevelopment law of the children’s embarrassment,through the ANOVA; Then usingthe self-made questionnaire and “the teacher evaluation questionnaire of3-9years oldchildren’s temperament” compiled by the previous researchers for surveying374young children’s embarrassment and temperament, this research uses the ANOVA,investigating the relationship between the embarrassment and temperament in youngchildren.The results show that:(1) Children’s embarrassment includes two dimensions: exposing embarrassmentand evaluative embarrassment.(2) The teacher evaluation questionnaire of young children’s embarrassmentdevelopment has good reliability and validity, and can be used as an assessment toolof children’s embarrassment levels.(3) The development of children’s embarrassment has age difference, there is a"V" shape trend of the development of embarrassment as they get older, the level of3 and5years old children’s embarrassment is significant higher than the level of4; Nosignificant gender difference in the development of young children’s embarrassment.(4) The two dimensions of embarrassment show significant differences at the ageof3and4. At the age of3, the evaluative embarrassment level is significantly higherthan the exposing embarrassment, at the age of4, the exposing embarrassment level issignificantly higher than the evaluative embarrassment level, and at5years old, thedevelopment of each dimension is consistent.(5) There is a close relationship between the temperament and theembarrassment of young children. Especially, there is a significant differenceinfluence on young children embarrassment of the attention dimension and the socialinhibition social dimension.
