| Dragon Boat Race has been a set of entertaining and competitive sports in one of the water sports among China’s national traditional sports events. As an activity of Chinese traditional festivals, it has been the favorite for the masses for thousands of years. Dongguan is famous as Dragon Boat City, the traditional dragon boat races has a long history in Dongguan, and has been the Dongguan people’s favorite. Since the reform and opening up, with the rapid economic development of Dongguan, the atmosphere of the Dragon Boat Race does not weaken, it even continue to inject fresh elements, and gradually form a new dragon boat culture. The Dongguan culture is strongly regional, mass, competitive and has folk beliefs, the dragon boat culture not only reflects the team cooperation and the spirit of indomitable fighting, it’s also a new combination of inner, innovation of modern sports and culture. This paper firstly through the study of the history of dragon boat culture background, the origin of the dragon boat sports and the analysis of the domestic and foreign research present situation, getting to know the Dragon Boat Festival as Chinese people overseas Migration and living, now more than50countries and regions in the world have carried out the dragon boat game throughout the year. As can see, visible dragon boat culture is of far-reaching significance to explore. Secondly it is aimed at the thorough research of Dongguan local dragon boat culture’s history and current situation. The Dongguan dragon boat culture has a long history, a solid foundation for the masses. Every town in Dongguan carries out the relevant cultural activities to the dragon boat races and each has distinguishing feature. Finally, it introduces the carrier of the Dongguan dragon boat culture, respectively from the dragon boat customs, dragon boat legend, and dragon boat songs; through the analysis of dilemma and countermeasures of the Dongguan dragon boat culture value, and to explore its connotation, and a better inheritance, innovation and help its sustainable development. An inquiry into the Dongguan dragon boat culture has its historical and practical significance, it is helpful for our better understanding of Dongguan’s historical culture, carrying forward the national culture, rousing national spirits, and it helps to inherit and carry forward the patriotic spirit. It is helpful for us to develop the tourism resources in Dongguan and Guangdong.
