The impairment in social function and decreased abilities of dailyliving are the important diagnostic criteria and main symptoms ofschizophrenia. With the disease development, positive symptoms ofchronic schizophrenic patients are gradually not obvious, but negativesymptoms, such as social function decline, passive lazy life, daily dieturge, affective flattening, lack of speech, abulia, are increasinglyprominent. Some recent studies found that the impairment in socialfunction of patients with chronic schizophrenia was associated with thesocial cognitive impairment. The emotion perception as an importantindicator of social cognitive ability may supply a kind of explain to thenegative symptoms of schizophrenia. The focus of recent reports onemotion perception deficit in schizophrenia is that whether the deficit isgeneralized or emotion-specific.In this study, the nature of emotion perception deficit in schizophreniaand IOR (inhibition of return) ability are explored through twoexperiments. In experiment1we investigated the emotion identificationfeatures of patients with chronic schizophrenia; In experiment2weemployed cue-target paradigm to explore the IOR (inhibition of return)ability changes of negative emotion recognition injury in patients withchronic schizophrenia. The results showed that:1. Compared with normal control group, there are some damage on theemotion perception in patients with chronic schizophrenia. The negativeemotion recognition deficit is more serous than positive emotion, whichindicated that the deficit is emotion-specific.2. Compared with normal control group, the IOR (inhibition of return)effect in patients with chronic schizophrenia was delayed, whichindicated that chronic schizophrenic patients were inadequate ability ofIOR(inhibition of return). 3.There were differences of IOR effect for happy faces, sad faces andneutral faces. When the SOA was1000ms, IOR effect for sad faces wasdetected, however,IOR ability for happy faces and neutral faces wereinadequate.
