In the long process ofcivilized history, written words have been playing an important role in delivering informationand keeping notes since when people have never broken off in making decorations anddesigns on them. Type-graphic designing that so far has experienced periods of graph, fussy,sense, transition, and up to now the period of post modernism will still have newpresentational forms and styles forward moving perpetually along with the pace of socialprogression. The purpose of my present essay is mainly to make a research on type-graphicdesigning in post modernism and thus analyze a progressive tendency in type-graphicdesigning corresponding to a series of changes in public aesthetical appreciation.The trend of post modernism, emerged in1960s, relates to various ideological fields suchas art, design, ethics, history, literature, language, politics, philosophy, etc. Furthermore,being an important branch in designs, type-graphic designing will inevitably be impacted bythe trend of post modernism, and there will appear new characteristics in new forms which arequite different from those in the past. On summing-up analyses of its characteristics,type-graphic designing in post modernism can be thereof chiefly divided into five designs likepresentation decoration, imago construction, figuration, recreation and experimentation. Allthese designs have been persistently serving the actual application, no exception totype-graphic designing. Influenced by the trend of post modernism, apart from those oftraditional media broadly used in advertisement posting, commodity packing, book binding,enterprise brand-marking, etc., type-graphic designing will also be used in an even broaderrange with the transformation of social demands and the emergence of newly-born media.Presentations on medium works and installation arts, etc. will altogether start trying to usewritten words for much more new explorations.Designs always change with a contemporary world in a periodical way, while type-graphicdesigning no way stays in a stagnant state, either. As the information period comes on, both information overflows and shortcut lives make people no longer thirsty for decorations andcomplications in post modernism, or their novelties in time of graph reading. Instead, they allthe more thirst for a quick and direct way to get what they really need in front of greatquantity of information. All this leads type-graphic designing in post modernism out of thewhirlpool of post modernism stressed on decorations and presentations to a simple and directway in expressions. Moreover, either highly-strengthened juice de vivre or highly-pressurizedliving condition will wake people up to relax themselves from a deep depression. Behaved inthis psychological state, they chase after those that are new, strange and skilful. When thispsychological state represents on type-graphic designing in post modernism, it is just a kindof games which has upset the traditional type-graphic designing and thereby achieves apluralistic progression on type-graphic designing.As mentioned above, designs will continuously serve the people. Any change in livingstandards and any development in economics will on some extent turn the direction ofdesigning progression. So long as type-graphic designing in post modernism is concerned, theexisting characteristics is no more than a reflection in succession, not really being unalterable,but it will still go ahead in harmony with the current society and keep up with the latestdevelopment in this world.
