In this paper, the research for the experiment and the cultural interpretation of theaudio-visual language of the image media is an extender attempt that is based on thelinguistic analysis. This study is designed to be in the visual media audiences’ point of view,to interpret the views and the mode of thinking, through the acceptation of the audiovisualsfrom which the valuable information of culture could be understood and apprehended. In thissense, this paper takes montage, telephoto lens and streams of consciousness as three basicmeans to research the audio-visual language of the image media. Whether is the theory ofmontage or the theory of long lens or the theory of consciousness streams, every time theemergence of the theory and the practice are having the experimental expression and trying atthat stage of the image’s developing. The digestion of narrative, the tension of Symbol, andthe promotion of digital are the three main areas of experimental research,which highlightthe audio-visual language of contemporary visual media experimental trends and thedevelopment of practical significance. Therefore, the image media of the development ofaudio-visual language will also have artistic value and the role of cultural values. Whetherfrom the image itself or from the audio-visual language of performance style, both of themhave benefited from the impact of changes in society, and emerged so much new imagemedia with vitality such as "independent cinema","Experimental Film","avant-garde art","Video Art" and so on. The continual emergence and development of new imaging, which aregrowing up in the reflection and heritage of the traditional image, gaze at the process ofimage development consciously to reveal a variety of psychological and visual purpose.Eventually, the image becomes the act and art with the focus on vision itself, and producesinsight with the world and the psychology of the people. Through reviewing and researchingon the image media, especially audio-visual language of the film, this paper has linked theaudio-visual language of the image media to contemporary society, and explores the trends ofdevelopment and possibilities of imaging culture in the context of post-modern culture. Thecontemporary theories and practices of image provide us many new issues and challenges thatare worthy of attention, but also required careful study and reflection.
