Research On The Characteristics Of Audio-visual Language In New Media Animation

With human beings' stepping into the 21 st century as well as the rapid development of science and technology,new media gradually came into sight of the public.The collision and fusion between the old and new media have changed the way of art creation and transmission and people's lifestyles and aesthetic experience too.With the rapid development of new media,new media animation,as a booming one among animation,emerged at the very moment.Animation forms are no longer confined to theater animation and television animation.Instead,animations represented by computer,mobile media,and digital TV have provided wider space for the expansion of animation forms.Animation audio-visual language,the theoretical foundation in this field,runs through the whole process of animation creation.Changes in the production technology and transmission of new media animation is bound to add new features to animation audio-visual language.Thus,research studies on the changes of those audio-visual languages have great implications for developmental directions of new media animation.By exploring the characteristics of concepts of new media and medium,this paper tidies the development of new media animation and determines the definition of new media animation's categories in this project so as to gain comprehensive understandings of new media and new media animation.Based on this,it analyzes the influence of new media's development on the production technology and audio-visual spread of animation,distinguishes the differences regarding audio-visual language of the animation employing new media as primary modes of transmission from that of traditional media animation,and summarizes new features of new media animation audio-visual language.By investigating respectively the animation audio-visual language's representative and narrative features,the paper sums up some representative features under the lens of new media animation,such as picture-type of games,magazine-type of pictures,immediacy of sound effects and so on,and also narrative features such as diversification of scenes' transitions,and parallel montage in cartoon style etc.in order to attempt to build a new theoretical framework for new media animation audio-visual language.Finally,the paper predicts and looks forward to new media animation audio-visual language's nonlinear,interactive,and reconstructive development.The paper hopes to provide certain theoretical guidance for animation creators faced with the rapid development of new media and to offer some suggestions for new media audio-visual languages' research and development that are still in initial stages both at home and abroad.
