We can see collective unconsciousness in some ancient ethnic and tribal culture and traditional ceremony, in various religious symbols and rituals. Of course, as an important part of Chinese culture, Chinese characters also contains a large number of collective unconsciousness information. Chinese characters, as the tool we record language and exchange thought, has a long history and rich cultural information. It has a history of nearly5000years. It’s origin is the origin of Chinese ancient civilization, and its development is the development of China’s ancient civilization. Chinese characters is the fruit of ancient ancestors’labour, and their reaction and understanding of the objective world. The feature of Chinese characters, which expresses meanings, is the truly reflection of ancient production and living, natural geography, and social customs. Therefore, the collective unconsciousness is omnipresent in ancient Chinese characters. This paper, based on the formation of collective unconsciousness in Chinese characters’creation process, analyses the natural causes, social causes, geographical causes as well as the "inside" and "external" information stimulation causes of the formation of collective unconsciousness in Chinese characters. Then the author makes archetypal criticism of Chinese characters in "Shuowen"(Analytical Dictionary of characters), the center of the next. The criticism inncludes birth prototype, the adventure and victory prototype, the suffering archetype, the death and resurrection prototype in "Shuo Wen". Finally, the author further discusses collective unconsciousness in the creation of Chinese characters and it’s influence to the wisdom of the creation, the forms of Chinese characters, the structure of Chinese characters, as well as the pictographic and ideographic characters. Finally the author makes conclusion that as native speakers of Chinese, Chinese are too familiar with Chinese characters. Everyone grows up by the accompany of Chinese characters, reading and writing, seeing it as air and food. Nevertheless, I still feel the magic of Chinese characters, and always has a kind of infinite gratitude. As Xu Shen said:"The text is the fundamental law of Arts and the origin of kingcraft and official history. The previous generations left legacy of experience and knowledge to later genertions through text, and the later generations understand ancient through text, too. So as the saying goes,’only after setting up the fundamental things, will the main path produce’. Thus to know the multifarious things in the world will not make it disordered". Research on Chinese characters culture psychology has its unique significance in the grasp of history and culture. But it also has its limitations. Because Chinese characters, although based on hieroglyph, has its strengths to hackle cultural context. However, pictographic symbols are not reflection of the objective pattern. At the same time, using Chinese characters to reflect the social and historical culture has the feature of objectivity, integrity and Irreplaceable, but it also has its own limitations in quantitative and specific process and detail aspects. In this regard, we have to study further.
