With the acceleration of internationalization progress, interpretation has becomeincreasingly important as an effective way of communication and more studentscontribute to the interpretation studies. While both the professional interpreters andstudent interpreters will encounter a lot of difficulties in the process of interpretation.During student interpreters’ study, listening comprehension is the key of the study aswell as the difficulty of learning, which is mainly due to the difference of listeningcomprehension and pure English listening training. In another word, interpreters needto comprehend not only the original text but also the logical relations of it and moreimportantly express it accurately with the target language. And this is a little bit hardfor student interpreters who used to study the listening abilities only for dealing withexaminations, while only few related studies are about listening comprehension. This paper aims to study the listening comprehension problems and its copingstrategies for the student interpreters through comparing my translation work with thereference version. Firstly, my study object is a speech that I have interpreted duringmy usual practice. Secondly, I listen to the recordings repeatedly and study the highfrequency of listening comprehension difficulties in my practice. Lastly, I try toconclude the coping strategies including the practice of the reading of source language,note-taking practice and the comprehensive ability of the interpreters.
