Factors Impacting Listening Comprehension And Their Coping Strategies In Consecutive Interpreting

The interpreting report is based on the writer's consecutive interpreting for an interview at Division of International and Exchanges of Beifang University of Nationalities.Based on the problems encountered during the interpreting task,the writer analyzes factors impacting listening comprehension and puts forward corresponding coping strategies in light of Gile's Interpretation Equation.The report consists of six parts:task description,introduction to theory,case analysis,coping strategies and the conclusion of the report.In light of Gile's Interpretation Equation,the writer analyzes six factors impacting listening comprehension namely vocabulary,grammar,subject knowledge,culture background,context analysis and logic analysis.Then the writer puts forward corresponding coping strategies in following aspects:interpreters have to enlarge vocabulary in different fields and enhance grammatical analysis;interpreters must accumulate subject knowledge,understand culture background and foster encyclopedia knowledge for a long time;interpreters also need to improve their context and logic analysis competence through listening and reading long and complicated sentences.Finally,the writer makes a conclusion.
