Theory Of Moral Dilemma Narrative In Novels Of Liu Xinglong

Liu Xinglong is one of the representative writers of contemporary realist literature, the reality concern in his novels is serious and sensitive, and there is a profound human moral thinking in his works. From a moral dilemma dimension and on the basis of the interpretation of texts, there are three parts of the thesis:narrative theme, narrative structure and aesthetic orientation of the narrative.The first chapter is about the subject of the moral dilemma narrative and the discussion of the moral struggle in novel heroines’behavior choice. There can be summarized into three types in moral dilemma narrative structure:the dilemma structure, the repeat structure and the mixed type structure. The three structures which are formed by a logical relationship among the unity, serving the moral dilemma of narrative with distinction and connection. They highlight the moral dilemma narrative themes, or positively deepen the influence and force of the moral culture, or have a clear intention to strengthen the judgment of the moral belief. These give author a particular narrative characteristic in novel structure.The third chapter mainly discusses the aesthetic orientation of the moral dilemma narrative in Liu Xinglong’s works and its aesthetic effect. This artistic feature is focused on the writer’s application of the irony art technique and the strengthening on artistic effect of the tragedy beauty. Irony which is reflected by the conflict between the character and the moral environment which we called as the narrative element, and it is also performed by the character’s own moral struggle. Its internal conflicting moral thinking which trends to strengthen the realistic critical spirit of the novels. The aesthetic orientation of tragedy is performed by the collision of conflicting moral power among people, witnessing the lofty spirit in destruction, and reflecting some romanticism and idealism in tragedy.In a word, through the analysis of the moral dilemma narrative feature, we can promote and rich the research in creation of Liu Xinglong’ s novels, also can have some good beneficial enlightenment on narrative theory construction of the novel.
