As an important part of the contemporary literary circles of Henan Province, Yan Lianke consciously inherits the tradition of Chinese modern local novels, and he always puts his eyes on that land which gave him life. He uses his simple style to show us all living creatures of the rural farmers on the context of industrialization. At the same time, relying on the obsessing to realistic literature, Yan Lianke shows us an unique stylistic feature which bases on the spirit of realism and combined Bakhtin’s Carnival with dialogue and narrative style.In the first chapter, it mainly introduced two opposite situation in the process of rural industrialization. At first, it shows the infatuation with farming civilization which represented by rural land and the yearing to city spiritual life which represented by the white shirt and the house. Second, it shows the insistence to funeral customs in rural and the collapse to the family concept which due to the money into. Third, it showed the imprisonment due to the requirements for the women’s chastity from the feudal culture and the pursuit to women’s rights (including mental and physical) which has been gradually influenced by modern urban civilization.In the second chapter, it mainly discussed the anti-urban tendency in the context of modernization in rural areas. First, city leads to mental and material strong pressure on the rural life with its powerful discourse hegemony and "male" status. In this case, Farmers broke through their original vitality (mainly chose male’s resistance after spiritual castration and the worship to willy as a form of rebellion) to against the oppression of the city. Second, the mysterious culture charm consists in every period of history with its own unique, and in the context of modernization, it takes a unique carrier (the old house and yellow dog) to display the guiding that long agricultural civilization to the farmers in rural areas.In the third chapter, it mainly utilized the polyphony and carnival theory of Bakhtin to analyzed the aesthetic characteristics of the novel form, including multi level dialogue of the internal structure of the novel and its carnival features which mainly reflected in the carnival language and the carnival laughter.
