In recent years, a growing number of registrations made Teacher Quality Certificate Examination very popular. And Teacher Quality Certificate Examination develops to be another State Civil Service Examination. Behind the booming of examination, the real motivation when people choose teacher as their job is rarely studied. However, career path motivation is crucial to enhance teachers’professional quality, explore many educational problems, and even promote the quality of Chinese people.Teachers’career path motivation is an inner and mental process or motivation inspired by various needs, which makes individuals choose the teacher occupation and keep the decision until the fulfillment of the goal. Teacher’s career path motivation not only makes an impact on whether the individuals will choose the teacher occupation or not, but also reflects the individuals’identity and evaluation to the profession. To some extent, it indicates the teachers’passion for the profession and volition for their professional development after entering the occupation.Full-time Master of Education professional degree postgraduate is a brand-new population. In2009, the Ministry of Education decides to enroll Full-time Master of Education for the first time, in order to cultivate for primary and secondary schools high-level practical teachers who have solid theoretical foundations as well as practical competence. Full-time Master of Education of English (TEFL) is a branch of Full-time Master of Education. And theoretically speaking, this group of postgraduates will all go into teaching after graduation.In this thesis, we made a survey on the career path motivation of TEFL by combining the methods of questionnaire and interview. On the whole the research was divided into two parts. In the first part, we explored their general motivation, which was divided into seven types, including devotion type, passion type, living type, character type, persuaded type, have-to type, and others; while in the second part we mainly investigated the factors influencing TEFL’s career path motivation from inner subjective aspect and outer objective aspect, totally included11dimensions.It was found that the living type motivation ranked the first, followed by passion type and character type, and the devotion type was rather low in rank. Have-to type and persuaded type were hardly even selected. The factors that inserted great influences on TEFL’s career path motivation were career interest, self-assessment, education impact and career rewards in order. The level of TEFL’s professional mind stability was relatively high. In the end, the author proposed some suggestions to help enhance TEFL’s career path motivation, especially intrinsic motivation.
