Political comment is a signally characteristic of Time and Tide which is apolitical semimonthly, and the anti-Japanese political comment takes a great part of it.In the1930s’, the Allied Powers declared war to Japan for the Japanese want toconquest the whole world by invading China as the first step. Japan becomes thecommon enemy of the peace-loving people. The anti-Japanese political comments of Time and Tide are consisting of3partsincluding head comments, political comments translated from foreign media andcomments by Japanese. The foreign comments stand for the resentment of the AlliedPower countries (United States, Britain, the Soviet Union and other) to Japan, and thecomments written by Japanese revealed the weakness of Japan who were trapped inthe war of aggression against China. All of above helped the Chinese to firm theconviction of winning the war against Japan.By teasing and analyzing the contents and characteristics of the politicalcomments mentioned above, this study tries to draw the great value of Time and Tideto the development of journalism during the war of aggression against Japan.
