“(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP” in modern Chinese appears frequently in everydaylanguage and literary work. While such sentences have the same external form, through theanalysis and research,differences of this kind of sentence can be found in syntactic structure,semantic relation, and pragmatic level. Many scholars have described and analyzed “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”,while the scope of the research is not comprehensive and there is a lot ofcontroversy. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive research on “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”.This thesis attempts to analyze meticulously from the syntactic, semantic andpragmatic angle. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter mainly defines theresearch object of this paper, and summarizes the predecessors’ research results, and brieflyintroduces the research methods of this article and corpus sources. The second chapter mainlystudies on each component in “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”, respectively illustrates the NP1, V,“得”, NP2and the characteristic of the VP, and carries on the exhaustive classification and datastatistics of the verb in V. The third chapter respectively expounds the basic semantic structure of“(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”, semantic component of each part, and the semantic orientationanalysis of “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”. The fourth chapter is about the variation of (NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”. The author thinks that there are six variations in “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”, andcarries on a detailed description and analysis of these six variations, and probes into the way andcondition of the variation. The fifth chapter discusses about two questions about“(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”. One is about the omission, NP1often appears empty in“(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”in a certain discourse. Another is about the focus question of “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP”, thecomparison of end focus and contrastive focus. The sixth chapter roughly summarizes the studyof my thesis, and also points out that the possible problems of my thesis. I hope I can keeplearning theoretical knowledge to solve these possible problems in the future.This thesis not only combines syntactic, semantic and pragmatic level, but alsoanalyzes “(NP1)+V+得+(NP2)+VP” from variations. In order to better solve the problem, the statistical method is also employed in the study.
