Hou Wailu who is influenced by Marxist philosophy, sets up the great goal which is touse Marxist philosophy view to clarify China’s social development. Under the macro guidanceof historical materialism, he analyzes the dialectical relationship between social existence andsocial consciousness, between economic basis and superstructure which makes philosophyresearch achieve the specific and historical unity. In addition, on the basis of objectivehistorical material, he insists on the academic style that seeking truth from facts andinnovation and keeps the researching study attitude to explore fine tradition that Chinesetraditional materialism struggles against the idealism ideological. He wants to complete andobjectively summarize the fit between Chinese philosophy and Marxist philosophy thought.In this article, the author attempts to Marxist philosophy from the following five parts:The first part is that from the perspective of historical materialism. Hou Wailu reveals andfocuses on materialist philosophers and their thoughts. At the same time, he strongly criticizesthe idealism. The second part studies dialectical materialism point of view. Hou Wailu carriesforward the materialism traditional of Chinese philosophy. It struggles with idealism whichleads the development of philosophy. And from studying the development of Chinese andwestern philosophy, Hou Wailu proves the generality and particularity in the development ofChinese philosophy. The third part mainly reveals that Hou Wailu takes importance of MAOZedong’s “The theory of practice”. And it discusses the embodiment and application ofpractice from the dialectical relationship between knowledge and practice. The fourth partdiscusses the similarity of the Datong thought and the communism in the class struggles. Thefifth part summaries the value of Hou Wailu’s Marxism though and its academicenlightenment.
