The report describes the translation of academic monographs--Reconstructing thePost-Western Myth. As the knowledge spreading and people’s spiritual life developing,academic articles are being more and more important to some scholars. The writing,publishing and translating of academic monographs and academic papers are playingan essential role in the scientific research. There are two functions on publishing andtranslating academic monograph: on the one hand, one’s research achievements couldbe recognized after transmitting in public; on the other hand, it is an effective way forexperts and scholars’ discussion and communication in certain field, and then promotethe development of scientific research. There is no boundary in academic, so thetranslation of academic monograph plays an important part in the world scientificresearch.The report includes five parts: introduction, description of translation task,description of translation process, case analysis, and conclusion. Different from otherworks, academic monograph has its own characteristics: technical, theoretical,scientifically, innovative. By the guidance of some translation theories and skills, theauthor analysis her translation in diction and collocation of words, splitting andcombination of sentence, cohesion and coherence of text.The report is about the translation of academic monograph, and makes a littlecontribution to the translation in this field. However, there remains some problemsneed to be solved.
