After the Tangshan earthquake in1976, Hebei Province set up the Yuhongschool in Shijiazhuang to rescue and resettle the quake orphans. After nearly8years,there have been more than600orphans living and learning in the school. In order tosummarize the experience and lessons,this paper uses a large number of collection ofarchives to research the education and assistance for earthquake orphans in Yuhongschool as well as its history.for orphans of Tangshan earthquake, and to explore thehistory of Yuhong school about education and assistance for earthquake orphans.The preparation work in Yuhong school is the beginning of this paper, weexamined the decision making process of Yuhong school, infrastructure, staffmobilization and funds, materials collection and allocation, and we discussed theestablishing and perfecting the rules and regulations of the Yuhong school,enrollment of Yuhong School and the its daily teaching and life management.Analyze the psychological impact of Yuhong school for earthquake orphans frompsychological level. Summarize the experience and lessons of Yuhong school in thisaspect that how to educate the earthquake orphans, reflect problems in education andassistance and explore the effect of growth and development of Yuhong school ofthis special education and assistance model in earthquake orphan student group bylearning life and life choices.This paper argues that Yuhong school recruited hundreds of earthquake orphansin a short period of time, it plays a positive role in earthquake orphans’ educationand assistance.But the program only focus on material security under the plannedeconomy system, ignoring the psychological intervention rescue mode,and bringssome negative impact for the future growth of the earthquake orphans, includingtheir lives, careers, marriage and family. In the new era, under the new situation, forthe earthquake victims placement, especially the earthquake orphans assistance,besides investing much material in, the government should pay attention to thepsychological intervention and care to make this special group to smooth out theearthquake disaster shadows, healthy growth, both adult and taught.
