Richard Strauss is among the most influential composers in the end of19th century and the beginning of20th century. His seven symphonic poems and program music gave significant promotion to the music development in the late19th century. His talent in orchestral music was fully presented through the reverberation of music. His musical texture was of great innovation and attracted the later generation to imitate it. The author analyzes his personal music style from the aspect of musical texture, and, through summarizing the texture types and features from the aspect of point, line, surface and body, analyzes the relationship between texture factor and musical effect and implements a comprehensive research in the distribution of texture in the music, in the hope of gaining deeper understanding and recognition on music’s motion logic and music development..The research on texture of Richard Strauss’symphonic poems can be divided into five parts. In Chapter1, the author analyzes the background, significance and current status of this research. In Chapter2, the author introduces the corresponding conceptions of texture. In Chapter3, the author detailedly analyzes Richard Strauss’s two piece of symphonic poems, namely Also Sprach Zarathustra and Von Hier an Blind. In Chapter4, the author summarizes the texture of Richard’s music, understands his application of different texture, such as linear stratification, massive counter, surface convergence and mosaic form, as well as analyzes composer’s application of timbre superimposition and subduction and timbre cohesion as well as its functions. In addition, the author summarizes the overall distribution of music texture.
