The traditional wedding ceremony of Han ethnic group is part of Han culture. It contains ceremony processes and ceremony songs. Based on fieldwork and combined with results of previous studies, this thesis uses ethnomusicology, music ethnography, music theory and morphological analysis and other methods to carry in-depth research of Han wedding ceremony and ritual songs in Huanglong Township. This thesis is aimed at presenting the local wedding ceremony process, the application of ritual songs and musical characteristics of marriage ceremonies, and thus showing the current situation and panorama of marriage ceremony and ritual songs in Huanglong town.Firstly, the thesis discusses the historical origin and transmission of the wedding ceremony songs in Huanglong Town. Then, it divides the development of the songs into traditional period and modern period and analyzes the subjects and means of transmission of these songs. In doing so, the author finds that wedding ceremony songs in Huanglong Town have their unique way of transmission, namely,"pick up science" and "religion with weeping". Next, the local research is implemented with Wang Jun’s case as the chief source and Wang Hongmei and HuYanlin as supplement. It turns out that the wedding ceremony and songs are quite alike and well-structured in this town. This thesis describes the specific application procedures and marriage ceremony songs in Huanglong Town in detail, and thus renders the current situation of marriage ceremony in Huanglong Town. lastly, based on first-hand information gathered, and documentary in "Chinese Folk Songs"(Sichuan Province Yuechi volume), supplemented by a collection of songs on the associated rituals, the author studies the following three aspects:the musical characteristics, the lyric features and the relationship between music and lyrics. The author finds that the ceremony song has its own unique and distinctive termination style and structural features, namely "wearing chant" change in use. To be more specific, music and lyrics are randomly collocated, with various tunes for various lyrics. Finally, through the study of wedding ceremony songs, the author is well informed that these ceremony songs have functions in education, identity, emotional communication and entertainment. It also reflects the cultural heritage of the local carrier, and has a unique value-"live" music culture and distinctive national characteristics of Han ethnic group.
