Study On The Diamond Schema Of Qiuci Mural Painting

The murals paintings of Qiuci Grottoes is an important part of Chinese traditional Buddhist grottoes murals.The unique geographical and historical environment of Qiuci make the mural painting art in Qiuci filled with local characteristics. Moreover, both the diverse content and broad range of topics of the murals paintings in Qiuci offers the objective basis on the deeper reseach of the history and religious culture. The diamond schema has not only been used in the murals paintings of Qiuci Grottoes, but also has existed for hundreds of years.This kind of situation is not common in another four grottoes murals paintings in China. The diamond schema is the typical representative of Qiuci Mural Painting, and what is more, it is the diamond schema that makes the Qiuci Grotto art distinctive from other grotto art. The diamond schema, which is full of beauty in the form and decorative, brings pleasant feelings to people. Besides, the generation and application of the diamond schema in the Qiuci Mural Painting is not only a simple symbol, but has deep meanings. The blending of the meaningful symbols, the perfect constitutive form and the theme of the murals paintings renders a strong atmosphere of Buddhism. All those element have attracted me a lot and aroused intense scholarly interest in the diamond schema. So in this paper, through the multi-angle study of the diamond schema, some edification are expected to be used in my future mural creation.The theme of this paper is the diamond schema in Qiuci Mural Painting, and the paper is composed of five chapters. In the first chapter, after giving a simple overview, the reliance environment of the diamond schema mural painting is also introduced, paving the way for further in-depth research. Then in the second part, while classifying and inducing the different periods of the external form of the diamond schema, the sources of the diamond images is discussed. The third chapter of the paper makes a deep study of the relationship between the expression and structure of diamond schema mural paintings and the expression of the theme and space type system,analysing the key factor of visual appeal of the diamond schema murals. In the fourth chapter, the artistic feature and inner cultural connotations of the diamond schema are analysed. Finally, in the last chapter of the paper, based on the former study of diamond schema murals, the enlightened significance of the diamond schema to the modern mural creation is summerized.The significance of the diamond schema is that, we should think the grasp of picture pattern and the selection of visual language symbols of the pictures from all perspectives to display the mainidea better via the mutual blending of the "inner" and "outer" of the murals.
