George Dickie is one of the exponents of the contemporary analytic aesthetics. This thesis is based on Introduction to Aesthetics:An Analytic Approach as core to draw a conclusion of the inspiration for Chinese contemporary aesthetics.Through the introduction of the philosophy of aesthetics, the development of aesthetic thoughts, the aesthetic thoughts of the main representatives such as Wittgenstein, Beardsley, Goodman and Danto, the analysis of the existing problems in the process of aesthetic development and its future development trend, to analyze Dickie’s internal aesthetic thoughts based on his theory of beauty, theory of aesthetic appreciation attitude and the theory of art, which are contained in his book, Introduction to Aesthetics:An Analytic Approach. It can be seen from his book that Dickie’s aesthetic thoughts, under the influence of the approach consciousness, is different from those of other aestheticians. The article also expounds Dickie’s different viewpoints to the aesthetic thoughts of other aestheticians and the characteristics of Dickie’s aesthetic thoughts by comparing his points of view with others, particularly, Dickie’s institutional theory of art and the theory of the evaluation of art, which were established by himself, are different from the previous aestheticians, especially his theory of the institutional theory of art within his definition of art, far different from Wittgenstein’s definition of art; the’four points theory’ of standards in ’instumentalism’ in his theory of the evaluation of art. Last but not least, the inspiration that Chinese contemporary aesthetic principle textbooks get from Dickie’s Introduction to Aesthetics: An Analytic Approach——creativity, local context and consciousness of problems, and aesthetic trend of the world are indispensable elements for the prosperity of Chinese contemporary aesthetics.
