This report aims to study the language features in Chapter 5 of Guide to Aesthetics written by Peter Kivy and their E-C translation techniques in light of our great translation theorist, Zhu Guangqian's aesthetics translation thoughts. At the same time I also put forward some acceptable translation methods to deal with the difficulties that I met during the translation process. This report consists of five parts:Part One is a brief introduction to the translation task and preparations before translating, including searching related materials and parallel texts, making a list of terms involved in the source text and their Chinese meaning; Part Two introduces the translation status quo of Western aesthetic works in China before and after the reform and opening up, showing readers the necessity of aesthetic works translation and their values; Part Three is devoted to the aesthetics translation thoughts put forth by Zhu Guangqian, mainly in three parts:translation variation, the unity of thought and language and Zhu's translation principles and methods. The methods mentioned in this chapter will be used in example analysis; Part Four focuses on the translation methods in terms of terminology, long sentence and the whole passage as a translation unit; Part Five serves as a summary of what has been discussed above.
